Hopkins Towed Vehicle Tail Light Wiring Kit Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Traverse- Video

Hopkins Towed Vehicle Tail Light Wiring Kit Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Traverse

Shane: Hey everyone, Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse and I'm going to walk you through how to install the Hopkins Plug and Play Diode Wiring Kit for towed vehicles. Why we need a diode wiring kit when we're towing our car. Well it's simple, because we want to get the light functions from our RV transferred back to our vehicle so that everybody behind us knows what we're doing. Whether we're turning, braking or driving at night. What is the purpose of the diodes The diodes, what they do is they protect the factory wiring from any back feed from the motor home if there's a wiring issue, if there's a short somewhere and vice versa. more

Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Traverse

Shane: Hi, everyone. Shane here at etrailer.com. Today, I have a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse, and I want to walk you through how I installed Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass for 50 amp fuses. The reason this vehicle needs it is because, when the car is set up to be in tow mode, you have to have the key in the accessory on position to shift it into neutral. Once shifted into neutral, the key can not be taken out of the ignition because it kind of locks it into place. So you have to be able to shut the power off for the battery. more

Blue Ox Fuse ByPass Switch Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Traverse

Shane: Hey, everyone. Shane here with etrailer.com. Today a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse, and I want to walk through how I installed the Blue Ox fuse bypass. Now, why would we need a fuse bypass for this vehicle In order to flat tow your vehicle behind your motor home, it requires you to pull two fuses. One of the fuses is a 15 amp fuse to your ECM. It requires it to be pulled once the vehicle is put into tow mode. An easy way to do that, rather than each time you want to tow your vehicle, pulling the two fuses out, or pulling that fuse out is to get a fuse bypass. more

Roadmaster Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles Installation - 2016 Chevrolet Traverse- Video

Roadmaster Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles Installation - 2016 Chevrolet Traverse

Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Traverse we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch for towed vehicles. Rated for 30 to 50 amp FMX Fuse, part number RM76513. We will be installing this in conjunction with the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass for two fuses rated at 20 amps, part number RM76514. Here's what this fuse bypass looks like once it's installed on the vehicle. As you can see it's tucked away here under the hood to where it's not really in the way of anything and it's not going to cause any issues. But what this does is eliminate the need to take the top of this fuse box off and then take out the fuse every single time. But rather you can just come under the hood here, flip the switch when you're ready to tow it, and then when you're done towing you flip it back to drive, and you're ready to go. The fuse that you got to take out of here, the other issues is that sometimes they can be difficult to get out, and from time to time when you take that file fuse out a lot, eventually it might break. more

Roadmaster Diode Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit Installation - 2016 Chevrolet Traverse

Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Roadmaster Diode 7-wire to 4-wire Flexo-Coil wiring kit, part number RM15247. This kit does a great job of really making it really simple when youre ready to hook up your towed vehicle to your motorhome because as soon as you plug it in, whenever you use the lights on your motorhome, the lights on your car will work in conjunction with the lights on your motorhome. It's got wiring that runs all the way back to the rear taillights. With diodes, what's great about the diodes is that that prevents any issues from the signal that comes from the motorhome to potentially come back into the vehicle's electrical system and cause an issue. Now, let's show you how to install this wiring kit. I've gone ahead and routed the 4-pole wiring from the front of the vehicle all the way to the back to where it'll be ready to go up towards the taillights. I started by taping it to one of the connection posts here at the front and then I routed it back underneath the radiator condenser where it came out here. Then I ran it along the crossframe here and then I ziptied it along the top of my crossmember. more
